QR Design & Printing Best Practices
Use a practical checklist to preserve scan reliability when moving from the Designer to real-world printed materials.
Reliable print checklist
- Keep strong contrast between QR modules and the background.
- Do not crop the quiet zone.
- Use High error correction when a logo covers a noticeable portion of the QR.
- Avoid making the physical QR too small for the scanning distance.
- Test the final exported file — not only the on-screen preview.
- Test on multiple phones and camera apps.
- For signs viewed from farther away, print larger and keep the design simpler.
Important: A QR that scans on your monitor can still fail after printing on glossy stock, low-contrast materials, textured surfaces, or at very small sizes.
